THE CARIBBEAN - The Lesser Antilles islands in the eastern Caribbean are associated with a small subducting plate boundary and have some active volcanoes and fumarole fields. Exploration on Guadeloupe began in 1969, and drilling of shallow high temperature wells has resulted in a 4.2 MWe double flash plant (on line since 1984). Exploration has also been encouraging on Dominica, Monserrat and St. Lucia, but electricity is not yet being produced. | |||||
